The three cores of quality web design
With so much of our daily business done in the virtual sphere, it’s growing more and more essential by the day that websites keep up with the changing needs of the market.
But when you think about it, what actually constitutes a “good” website?
It’s a complex question, but it’s one you’re going to want to find the answer to.
Web design is a portal for creativity and there are so many different ways of designing beautiful and engaging websites, but all quality websites will share the following three core strengths.
Usability
A good website should, if nothing else, be as functional as humanly possible. It’s so easy to get carried away with brand new features and exciting new plugins, but the reality is that they can often cause the website’s performance to tank.
It’s better to have a clean, minimalist website that offers flawless usability than to have a cluttered mess which nobody can navigate. If your customers can’t choose and purchase their products easily, they’ll go somewhere else. It’s that simple.
Simplicity
People are doing more of their daily business online because they have less time to do it in the real world. Understanding that, it’s simple to see that the most precious resource you have is your customers’ time, so don’t waste it!
Your website needs to be fluid to navigate. If someone can’t quickly navigate to what they’re interested in and checkout in less than a few minutes you run the risk of driving off your customers. A bloated website benefits nobody, keep it simple and clean.
Interactivity
The best websites will always seek to make their users feel like part of a community. You can do this in a variety of ways, such as blogs, form submissions, feedback requests; anything that will allow your visitors to feel they have a voice.
If your website is cold and clinical, there is no reason to form an attachment to it. People often shop through personal preference, and it’s difficult to form an attachment to a business that gives off the impression that it doesn’t really need your custom.
